It is the mission of the Ashe County Sheriff's Office to serve and protect the citizens of Ashe County; to defend the innocent against deception; the weak against oppression; the peaceful against violence and disorder; to respect the constitutional rights of our citizens to life, liberty, and justice; to perform our duties as Law Enforcement Officers with dignity and respect as we accept the challenges that confront us daily.

Sheriff Williams has held the position of Ashe County Sheriff since 2006 and has been a law enforcement officer since 1972.

Major J.E. Bucky Absher

The Ashe County Sheriff's Office Detective Division operates under the direction of Major J.E Absher.  Absher, a 30 year veteran with the department, directs six full time detectives and one volunteer part time detective.  The Detective Division is responsible for investigating all crimes reported in Ashe County.

S.E.R.T.

 
 

S.E.R.T. - Sheriff's Emergency Response Team


Ashe County's Sheriff's Emergency Response Team or (S.E.R.T.) is a very highly trained and specialized unit whose purpose is to provide the type of tactical response necessary to safely diffuse or bring closer to certain types of high risk situations.

Ashe County's S.E.R.T. was formed in 2006 and is commanded by Lieutenant Grady Price.
